Olympic Day

May 28, 2008

The fifth and sixth graders had spent a great amount of time studying Ancient Athens and Greece during the spring and as a culminating activity the teachers decided to recreate the Olympic games. Togas and all. It was absolutely fantastic.

Here are some pictures of the different Nation States. The kids are displaying their flags before performing their songs, cheers and reporting on the history of their location.

Of Course Alisher convinced his entire team to represent themselves with a pig face.

The fifth and sixth grade team got crowned before the official games started.

The 5/6

Here Mrs. Cross and Mrs. Glaser demonstrated the joust. It was my favorite game. At one point in the day Andrea Vale showed off her strength and successfully broke a noodle in half. But she did prevail as the champion.

Ladies Night at Bellavista ~ plus Matteo

During the last week of school Emily, Lizzie, Shannon, Allyson and I decided to go and grab dinner and drinks at Bellavista to spend a leisurely evening together. It was a gorgeous night, but unfortunately there were many TASIS high schoolers at the tables around us. But they left early, well before these delicious frozen lemon cello drinks came to our table courtesy of Matteo and his ability to order in Italian.

Check Please...wow obnoxious Americans. It's alright, we have been frequenting this restaurant for a couple months now.

Matteo ~ Emily's boyfriend. He spent the evening teaching us crude sayings in Italian that I of course did not retain because I just can't seem to pick up the language. Maybe I should try a little harder.
